Compete at the Level of ASEAN

In order to improve the coaching of junior chess players in Indonesia, especially for the students of SDK 6 PENABUR to take part and experience a chess competition at the level of ASEAN, one of the students named Abelard Rafael Jeremia Widlan joined Malaysian Chess Festival 2016 held on 11 September 2016 in Cititel Midvalley Hotel Kualalumpur.

catur2The excitement of the chess players in this event was extraordinary. It was recorded that there were 467 participants joining the opening ceremony. They were from various countries such as Indonesia, Malaysia, India, Thailand, Australia, Uzbekistan, and China. This was the first time for Abelard to join this kind of tournament, yet he won a medal, defeating all his competitors from other countries. What a glorious moment!catur3

“I really like playing chess since I was 5 years old and when I was in grade 1, I chose chess as my extracurricular activity at school. My dream is to be the winner of the world Chess Master championship. I would also express my gratitude to my chess teacher who has guided me.” Abelard said.

Keep on fighting to achieve a greater achievement for God’s glory.
